WHO WE ARE

Founded in 2024 by partners Ricardo Fernández and Jennifer Keeney Sendrow, Cake Machine Productions is about all things joyful, curious, and live.  We have over 40 years collective experience in live arts, journalism, and media production and have been a team for more than a decade. We manage people, budgets, and complex projects with skill, flexibility, and empathy.

Ricardo Fernandez
Ricardo Fernández is a musician, sound designer, composer, recording engineer, technical director, and producer. 
For 14 years he was the senior technical director for The Greene Space at WNYC & WQXR where he led a team of live sound, recording, and video engineers producing live programs going direct to radio broadcast and video livestreams. In addition to running the venue year-round, he directed tech operations for WNYC productions at iconic venues like The Apollo, Knockdown Center, and The Theater at Ace Hotel and supervised post-production on thousands of audio and video programs.
Prior to joining the team at New York Public Radio, Ricardo worked in television, film, and music. He was a recording engineer at the world-renowned Avatar Studios, working with some of the top artists and engineers in the industry. He was a Composer for Discovery Channel productions, the Senior Music Editor for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a Staff Music Editor for Yugioh, Winx, and Viva Piñata, and the Sound Designer for the Emmy Award-winning documentary Out in the Silence. His work has been nominated for a NYF Radio Award and a TEC Award.
Ricardo grew up in Guatemala City and he is a graduate of Berklee College of Music.

RICARDO FERNÁNDEZ

Jennifer Keeney Sendrow is an experienced arts and media executive with a background in producing, editing, reporting, hosting, and directing.
As the Executive Producer for The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space at WNYC & WQXR for more than a decade, Jennifer became expert at drawing the best from diverse creative, editorial, and business partners to produce a wide range of programming that amplified the community-focused mission of New York Public Radio. Under her leadership, The Greene Space team adopted vision and values statements to guide its work, grew its annual digital audience from 300K to 4.5M, doubled its budget and staff, launched multiple successful programs including visual and performing artist residencies, built partnerships with dozens of organizations across the city, and met revenue goals via a mix of sponsorship, membership, philanthropy, and ticketing. 
Simultaneously serving as WNYC’s Executive Producer for Multiplatform Content, Jennifer also developed and produced podcasts for WNYC Studios, created events at iconic venues like the Apollo, Town Hall, and BAM, was a key leader on cross-departmental projects, and ran a groundbreaking bi-coastal festival for women in audio called Werk It. 
Prior to those roles, Jennifer was a producer for WNYC and Sirius XM. She was the founding producer of Cooking with Emeril hosted by Emeril Lagasse as well as the health and wellness show Whole Living for Martha Stewart Living Radio, where she also developed and produced many special series hosted by people like Isaac Mizrahi, Anthony Bourdain, Tom Colicchio, Bill Telepan and Martha Stewart. At FM News 101.9, Jennifer anchored newscasts, reported on breaking news, and covered culture and science stories. Her writing has appeared in Saveur, Upper East, and Time Out, and she has edited dozens of travel titles for Michelin, Explorer Guides, and Not For Tourists. 
A Philadelphia native, Jennifer has an honors degree in literature from New York University. She attended graduate school as a Fulbright Scholar studying immigration and politics at the University of Aarhus, Denmark and was a visiting student of history and politics at Queens University, Belfast. She holds an Advanced Certificate in Wine and Spirits from the Wine & Spirits Education Trust, a New York City sightseeing guide’s license, and is an active U.S. Soccer Federation Referee.
